Finance Controller
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Controller to join our finance team.
As Finance Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of the company through meticulous calculation, analysis, financial control and management of significant service contracts. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic financial decision-making process and drive the success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of monthly management accounts and year end Statutory accounts including liaising with auditors.
Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the Balance Sheets of the group companies.
Contribute to forecasting processes for financial planning.
Collaborate with department heads and managers to develop and manage budget allocations.
Oversee outsourced payroll provision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Manage the cash flow of the group of companies.
Manage the customer invoicing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage the credit control process ensuring customers adhere to credit terms and conditions.
Manage company purchases and supplier payments efficiently.
Preparing tender bid pricing for potential projects and pricing for new workflows and service contracts.
Preparing and submitting accurate VAT returns in compliance with regulations.
Preparing P11D forms for submission to tax authorities.
Work with relevant departments to manage facilities and insurance costs effectively.
Ensuring financial processes adhere to GDPR regulations.
Identify and assess financial risks, implementing governance strategies to mitigate them.
Qualifications and Skills
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in Sage/Xero software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables/vlookups etc.)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience of running a payroll process.
Experience of preparing VAT returns.
Experience of job costings and contracts/tenders and pricing work in the public sector.
Used to working in an SME.
Used to managing staff (1 direct report).
Ideally a 1st or 2nd move into industry.
Hands on approach.
Team player as part of management team.
