Alex is an LLB (Hons) graduate, established TAAS in 2001, with a vision to create a service that was responsive and reliable to provide support to vulnerable people and police at critical times. She continues to be a key figure in developing and delivering the services TAAS offers, whilst ensuring the last job provided was as good as the first. Committed to delivering the highest standards of customer service and ensuring that the staff representing the organisation are highly trained and well supported to enable them to provide support to those in custody.



Karen Harding is the Regional Manager for Hampshire, Sussex, Jersey and Merseyside.  Karen Harding is based in Hampshire and is a BA (Hons) Graduate with 16 years consecutive experience working with vulnerable client groups, including 5 years’ experience working with local youth offending teams, adult probation and Integrated Offender Management.  She is an experienced advocate and has managed teams in court and community settings.  She is an experienced manager of both staff & volunteers in appropriate adult settings, including working with juveniles, and is also an accredited BACP counsellor with 10 years post qualification experience.  Karen is a qualified trainer with particular specialism in training staff to work with offenders and has undergone recent further training in Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Autism and Advanced Supervision Skills.



Lynn Frusher is the Regional Manager for London, Herts and Wales. Based, born and bred in South London Lynn joined TAAS in 2006 as a full time AA following a previous 23 years in nursing, specialising in Emergency Admissions and High Dependency. Lynn has much experience in managing and training both paid staff teams and volunteers. She founded, and manages,  her own charity and was instrumental in setting up and running one of the busiest Foodbank's in London. 
Alongside her AA work Lynn became an OOH co ordinator for TAAS 10 years ago taking referrals, allocating AA's and dealing with any issues that arose. 
Lynn has invaluable experience in supporting and advocating for vulnerable people throughout the community and particularly enjoys the training aspect of her role to ensure all AA's are confident in their ability to do the same.
Lynn continues to undertake her own development and recent further training includes  Autism, CSE, FGM, Honour Based Abuse, Forced Marriage , Prevent and Mental Health in both adults and Juveniles. 
She has 3 grown up children and shares custody of her dog!

Debbie Washington is the Regional Manager for the Midlands and North areas. Based in Leicestershire, Debbie's background, prior to her current role, was in Sales Management, including building a successful family business. During this time, Debbie's passion for assisting vulnerable people was developed, she spent her available time working within the Voluntary Sector. Gaining valuable experience, Debbie worked as a Voluntary Aid for Mencap, helping disabled adults and children to allow much needed respite for the family members. Debbie also volunteered as a Mentor for the Youth Offending Team, mentoring young people, including Drug Awareness and Anger Management and attending custody as an Appropriate Adult for young people
Debbie has worked for The Appropriate Adult Service for almost 9 years and was herself an Appropriate Adult for the first 6 years of her employment with TAAS. She has accumulated various qualifications over the years, gaining her substantial knowledge in all aspects of assisting vulnerable adults and young people, including Counselling, Team Leading, Management and Training, Safeguarding, Autism awareness, Child Sexual Exploitation and assisting in Youth Remand Courts. Debbie continues to keep herself updated with current legislations for vulnerable people and regularly attends relevant seminars within this field.
Debbie is a member of the Mental Health Charity MIND and also attends conferences with the Governing Body NAAN (The National Appropriate Adult Network) to ensure current legislation is being followed by her team. Debbie is a firm believer in leading by example and strives to put this into practice at all times.
