Age Assessments
Our services
We provide Appropriate Adults to support individuals during Age Assessments, ensuring they are treated with respect, safety, and fairness while their age is formally determined. We facilitate communication, safeguard wellbeing, and help individuals understand the process, supporting both the individual and the professionals conducting the assessment to ensure accurate and fair outcomes.

Age Assessments are needed when an individual’s age is unclear, such as under immigration control or when documentation is lacking. They ensure that children or adults receive the appropriate services and support based on their verified age.
As Appropriate Adults, we facilitate communication, safeguard welfare, and ensure individuals understand the assessment process. Interpreters are provided when needed, and we take detailed notes throughout, creating a record that can support future proceedings. Our role ensures everyone is treated with respect, safety, and fairness while assisting the professionals conducting the assessment.
Our approach
Providing trained support to ensure individuals are treated fairly, understood, and safeguarded during age assessments.
Our Age Assessment service provides trained support to individuals whose age is unclear or disputed, whether they are children, young people, or adults. Many individuals have no documentation to verify their age, and some may claim an age that differs from what authorities suspect. In these situations, vulnerability can be heightened due to trauma, displacement, language barriers, or other safeguarding concerns. Our role is to ensure that each individual understands the assessment process, can communicate effectively, and receives the protection and support they need throughout.

From the moment a referral is made, our team works closely with professionals to coordinate a safe and structured assessment. During the process, our staff facilitate communication, safeguard wellbeing, provide interpreters when required, and take detailed notes to record observations and interactions that may inform future decisions.

Our service is delivered across a range of settings, including immigration detention facilities, local authority offices, and other designated locations. At every stage, our staff work sensitively, at the individual’s pace, and with respect, ensuring that every person receives professional support and protection while their age is formally determined.
