Appropriate Adult and Court Support Services in Scotland

The Appropriate Adult Service (TAAS) has been delivering professional appropriate adult services across Scotland since 2023, supporting North, South, and East Ayrshire Councils in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities under the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2016. Appropriate Adults can be requested by Police Scotland, British Transport Police, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs), and the Immigration Service.

Court Support in Scotland

TAAS Scotland also provides specialist court support services throughout Scotland, building on over 10 years of experience.

Our court support service is available to assist accused persons, victims, and witnesses in criminal courts across Scotland, helping vulnerable individuals navigate the court process with dignity and understanding. While not currently a statutory service, court support can be arranged privately or funded through the Scottish Legal Aid Board, with applications made via a solicitor.

Safeguarding and privacy are at the heart of everything we do.

Our team is trained to identify and respond to any risks to a child or vulnerable adult’s wellbeing, ensuring that their safety is always the top priority. All interactions are conducted with the utmost respect, sensitivity, and confidentiality, and personal information is handled securely in line with legal and safeguarding requirements. By maintaining high standards of care and discretion, we create a safe environment where vulnerable people can be supported, heard, and protected.
